An Honest Lilly Pulitzer Planner Commentary

I must admit, I am slightly disappointed in Lilly's planner selection this year. Last year I purchased the 2015-2015 Large Lobstah Roll Agenda which had a covered spine. I loved this feature because I tend to throw my agenda in my bag, and the rings always got bent. This caused pages of my agenda to tear every time I turned a page.

This year, I feel that not only is the covered spine agenda not an option, but there are far fewer designs to choose from in each size as well. It seems to me that there always seems to be the largest number of prints in the Large and Jumbo agenda sizes, which seems like an advertising stunt to me - the larger the agenda, the steeper the price. To be honest, I find that the large agenda are too large. Unless you are in college or involved in a few of your children's activities, I find that I could not possibly think of that many things to write in both the monthly and weekly layout spaces.

Furthermore, I am patiently waiting for the yearly agendas to come out. Yes folks, this means an agenda that spans from January to December of the year. I always feel as if it is a waste of both paper and money when the 18 month agendas overlap and I end up not using a large majority of the months. However, it does make for more scrapbooking paper afterwards! (Coming soon...a few different DIY crafts which can be accomplished with Lilly agenda paper.)

What do you think about the Lilly agendas this year?
Any recommendations for a better agenda? I have heard great things about Kate Spade's.

Recipe: Chocolate Chip Blondies

Let it be known that I have a huge sweet tooth. I tried this chocolate chip blondie recipe for the other day and had positive remarks from both my sweetie and my family. They were relatively quick and easy to make, and they will definitely be on my list to make again. If you have never had a blondie, it is essentially exactly what it sounds like it is...a blonde brownie. Not too rich and very moist, this recipe is a keeper!  I got 32 blondies out of this recipe, for portion sizing information.

Recipe: Creamy Pesto Shrimp Pasta

Another recipe for the books! I recently made this creamy pesto shrimp pasta recipe by All Recipes and holy moly was it delicious. While extremely high in fat and caloric content, it is definitely a dish
worth making to treat yourself (and others!) to every once in a blue moon.

I went a little overboard with the freshly grated parmesean and it made everything even better. I recommend topping the entire dish with extra parmesean cheese.

We topped off the dish with a fresh romaine thousand island salad and spiked strawberry lemonade in my mason jar dispenser (which I scored for less than $10 at Bed Bath and Beyond with two coupons!) and enjoyed a delicious end-of-the-summer dinner together.

Lately

Just wanted to share a few of my favorite things going on lately!

My mom scored this gorgeous (and huge) canvas at a garage sale a few weeks ago and gifted it to me for my birthday. She has so many gorgeous thrifted art finds around the home I grew up in and I always joke about how much I love garage sale art. This is living proof! It looks absolutely wonderful above my piano.

I am loving the new sweater / poncho / shawl trend. I hope it is here to stay. I found this gorgeous shawl that almost fits like a poncho at Macy's. They had a doorbuster sale which included 25% off almost everything, and I had an additional coupon for 25% off. It was a win win. I know it will look gorgeous with a pair of dark jeans and black leather boots.

We took a country drive a few weeks ago. We had a pit stop at a real A & W to get root beer on tap and then drove out to the Linesville Spillway in PA to get a good look at the giant savage feeding carp. It was a gorgeous sunny day and a perfect time to bust out long sleeved shirt and sunglasses.

Also, here is an updated post on how my living room is looking lately! You can view many of my other adventures in interior decoration here.

Sometimes, I find myself standing in front of my closet with no idea what to wear...when clearly supply is not an issue. I chose to browse through my Polyvore and find a few of my favorite compilations from the past! Enjoy these fall tones. (You will also find that many of the items are repeated throughout the compilations which goes to show that true staple accessories can go a long way). You can shop items below the Polyvore collage.
